What to Expect
SmartCarb users should expect a 25-30% increase in fuel economy compared to the stock fuel system for the same conditions (riding style, speed, terrain, elevation, etc). Oil injected Beta customers can expect even more.

Tune your SmartCarb track or trail-side in seconds. All adjustments are made externally, by hand, and without tools.
See the SmartCarb Tuning Mini Guide for more information.
The SmartCarb's patented, integrated float bowl venting feature allows it to automatically compensate for much wider air density factors related to elevation and temperature changes compared to other carburetors. No adjustments are required for moderate elevation or temperature changes. Extreme changes (multiple thousands of feet elevation change and/or large temperature swings) may require a slight adjustment.
Fuel composition can vary by region and may require slight adjustments for optimal performance.
Power delivery characteristics can be modified by adjusting the clicker for optimal power delivery in varying terrain (slick, dry, rocky, etc).
SmartCarbs are CNC machined out of high grade aluminum with hard coated throttle slides to resist wear. Unlike conventional carburetors, there are no jets or small orifices to clog or gel up. We recommend a thorough cleaning annually and a rebuild with Rebuild Kit containing all service parts every 2-3 years.
Consistent cleaning and replacement of service parts will keep your SmartCarb performing excellently for years.

SmartCarb installation is easy, however airboot modification may be required for some applications. View the Quick Start Guides below for more information.
SmartCarbs are built to last, however basic maintenance is required to keep them performing optimally. We recommend a thorough cleaning annually and the replacement of service parts as needed every few years. Cleaning instructions and more detailed maintenance requirements are available in the User Manual included with your purchase. Digital User Manuals are available on our Tech Support page.

INSTALLATION/TUNING
The short answer is that it doesn't.
SmartCarbs offer greater performance, fuel efficiency, consistency, and ease of use compared to conventional jet/needle carburetors. Keihin, Mikuni, and many other similar carburetor designs use multiple overlapping fuel and air circuits comprised of jets and a needle. The SmartCarb uses only a metering rod for fueling from idle to WOT, making it a true single circuit fuel system. Unlike conventional carburetors, SmartCarbs provide much finer fuel atomization and mixture control and are externally adjustable, without tools, in seconds. Integrated float bowl venting in the SmartCarb allows it to compensate for much wider elevation and temperature changes with minimal effect on mixture values, while also making it a sealed system that does not spill fuel, even when tipped over.
SmartCarb brings carburetion into the 21st century.
SmartCarb is often said to feel as close to fuel injection as carburetion gets, and we agree.
Compared to most EFI setups, the SmartCarb offers similarly linear power delivery, excellent fuel efficiency and mixture value consistency regardless of elevation and temperature changes, and comparable ease of use. It does so while still offering the best aspects of carburetion, including design simplicity, that powerful carburetor feel/performance, and laptop-free troubleshooting, all without the need for a suite of sensors, wiring, and the added complexity and failure points inherent to EFI.
